About

Eneri Abillar is a San Diego based designer who has a design resume that merges a bi-coastal US education with a global client history. Representing an eclectic background that bridges formal education in biology and sculpture with high style, Eneri is one of the leading forces in the urban renaissance of industrial design.

As a classically trained artist, Eneri can visually conceptualize many scenarios in a way that conveys highly detailed end-design. Eneri is thoroughly versed with physical media, employing a building skill-set that extends deep into fabrication, as well as implementation at the factory level. His ability to take ideas from paper-to-platform sets him apart from designers versed only in concept.

Eneri's process is filtered through his multi-cultural background as well as his life experience. He believes in the power of adversity. As far as design process, Eneri is purely analog in the beginning. He goes from sketches to sketch models quickly and back to sketching before working on any software. For Eneri, so much of thinking and analysis occurs when the hands teach the mind. It is the secret and focus of his success.

Early in his career, Eneri was fortunate to work with notable influencers as Louis Nelson, IDSA designer of the decade, Bruce Hannah, and acclaimed furniture designer Charles Pollack.  All of whom imparted their unique perspective on design that later drove his success as the Lead Industrial Designer at Vapor Studio.

While working at Vapor Studio, he designed game changing products such as the Mix Master Mike headphone for Skullcandy, Adidas Neo footwear, and revolutionized golf footwear for Ashworth with the first non-metal cleat outsole to win a major PGA tournament. Outside of work, Eneri also collaborated with Pepsi and Toyota Scion on unique transportation projects.

In 2010, Eneri established the international design studio, Vapor Studio Asia, in Makati, Philippines.  As the Owner & Creative Principle of Vapor Studio Asia, he directed a team of industrial designers, graphic designers, interior designers, and architects on product and interior design projects.

In addition to servicing international and domestic clients, Eneri became recognized as one of the leading forces in Philippine design and education. He was a frequent guest speaker at university undergraduate seminars and held widely popular design workshops at Vapor Studio Asia that taught drawing and ideation, which were often missing from the country's university curriculum.  Eneri joined Kenneth Cobunpue and French industrial designer, Arik Levy, as headliners for the country’s high profile Philippine Design Week in 2013.  He solidified his place in Philippine industrial design as he delivered an inspiring message about the potential of Philippine design on the world stage.

2014, Eneri returned to the US were he was working with DJO Global and Denon Audio while teaching at Otis College of Art & Design. He also took a full time position at the prestigious Industrial Design Firm RKS.

In 2016, Eneri moved back to San Diego and took a full-time position with DJO Global. There he served as Director of Design for its growing consumer division and ultimately become the Global Creative Director. During his post as director, they launched a new comfort footwear brand called BLUPRINT, a Performance athletic brace line called Don Joy Performance, a consumer friendly/price sensitive brand called Don Joy Advantage, as well as new innovative garments in the field of TENS and NMES (Neuro-muscular Electrical Stimulation)

In 2019 Spearhead the creation of a groundbreaking product design language for MANSCAPED, including the flagship electric shaving product 'Lawn Mower 4' and 8 additional products. In the process established MANSCAPED as a leader in the male grooming category by introducing a unique design perspective, resulting in domestic and international market expansion.Awarded multiple utility and design patents.
